In 1960,Tom Monaghan and his brother,James purchased a small store in Ypsilanti,Michigan.Eight months later,James traded his half of the business to Tom for a used Volkswagen Beetle.Within a few years, it went on to have a rapid growth to such an extent that his establishment was one among the leading ones in the US.
